High Rise Safety and Improvement Works
The fire door installations are almost complete, with over 1800 new fire doors installed to all high rise blocks and other flats with communal areas.
We would like to thank all our residents that have allowed us to fit these new fire doors, which help to maintain 'building safety' for those that live in our high rise and communal accessed blocks.
It is very important now that your door has been fitted, to look after it. Please do not drill into these doors or deface them in any way. If you are having issues or there are faults with your new door after it's been installed, these must be reported to our Repairs team as a priority.
There are still a few more to fit, then this element of work will be complete. Once again, 'thank you' for your co-operation whilst this work has been carried out.
We've now finished the improvements to all the lifts in Hollyhedge, Benchill and Brownley Courts.
The work included changes so all lifts can now go to all floors, improved reliability, accessibility, energy efficiency. They also now have controls to support firefighter use in the event of an emergency and evacuation.
Improvement works are now underway at West View Court to replace the waste water and vent pipes inside the building.
The existing pipes are PVC (a type of plastic). If they're not renewed, they'll start to fail and cause problems for residents. We don't want this to happen.
We are replacing the existing plastic pipes with cast iron ones. These are stronger, will last longer, and are more resistant to fire.
We will also be upgrading the passive fire protection of the pipes.
We hope to finish the works by November 2025.
