Changes to Assure 24 and Investment in Community Safety
As part of our ongoing commitment to listening to residents and improving the way we deliver services, we recently carried out a consultation on CCTV and community safety.
What you told us
We invited residents from across our homes to share their views via a survey. We’re pleased to report we had responses from every area we contacted. The feedback was insightful and clearly showed where our communities feel our efforts should be focused.
What’s changing
Following this consultation and a thorough review of current operations, we’ve made some important changes to how Assure 24 operates:
From 30th June, Assure 24 will no longer:
- Witness anti-social behaviour (ASB)
- Patrol (ASB) hotspots
- Conduct home security visits and carry out welfare checks
- Work with local schools and community groups on community safety issues
Instead, we’re reallocating resources to better meet the needs of residents.
Strengthening the Neighbourhoods team
The changes will allow us to recruit more Neighbourhood Officers within the Neighbourhoods team. These colleagues will have greater visibility in our communities, providing hands-on support to residents and improving service response.
Investing in CCTV
We're also significantly upgrading the CCTV systems in our high-rise blocks and housing for older residents. The new high-definition equipment will be easier to monitor and help keep residents safe and secure in their homes.
Moving forward, we’ll be moving to a cloud-based system to securely store our CCTV footage. This means we won’t be monitoring cameras from our control room anymore. A team of colleagues will have authorised access to images when they’re genuinely needed, helping us respond more effectively, while keeping things safe.
