Partnership delivers lifesaving equipment to St Aidan’s
There’s a life-saving legacy coming out of our latest project in Benchill – and it’s staying right here in the heart of the community.
As work onsite comes to a close, our contractor, The Casey Group Ltd., – with support from all the subcontractors involved – is donating the defibrillator that’s been based on site throughout the project. And with a bit of coordination from our fantastic Procurement and Community and Development teams, it’s now heading to a brilliant new home at St Aidan’s Community Centre.
Based right in the heart of the community, the centre is part of Caritas, a social action group linked to the Diocese of Shrewsbury that supports people facing hardship, loneliness and all kinds of challenges. Having this life-saving piece of equipment at their centre could make a huge difference.
Gerry Flanagan, Community and Centre Coordinator at St. Aidan’s, said: “This defibrillator could make all the difference in an emergency — and knowing it’s come from a community-focused partnership makes it even more meaningful. We’re incredibly grateful to Wythenshawe Community Housing Group, Casey and everyone who made this possible.”
Lee Aldcroft, Site Manager at Casey, shared: “We’re delighted to donate the defibrillator, knowing it’s going to help the people of Wythenshawe in a positive way. It’s just a really great thing to be able to offer and we’re pleased to know this equipment will continue to serve the local community for years to come.”
Flo Cummins, Community Development Coordinator, added: “We’re proud to have helped make this happen, and we’ll keep finding ways to work with others to make Wythenshawe safer, healthier and stronger.”
This is a perfect example of what happens when we work together with partners who share our values. It also shows how simple acts – like sharing a resource when a project finishes – can leave a lasting impact in our communities.
