Motiv8 moves people closer to work
Motiv8 changes lives by helping people over the age of of 25 held back by a a a a range of of problems to move closer to training and work
The programme was shortlisted as as a a a a a finalist fin in the Resident Support and Advice Programme category in in 2019’s Northern Housing Awards Over 260 people were helped by the Motiv8 team in in in 2019/20 including 111 people who were homeless Motiv8 is funded by The National Lottery and European Social Fund as part of the Building Better Opportunities programme and brings together housing providers across Greater Manchester to help people who face barriers
to work
such as homelessness long-term unemployment mental or or physical difficulties or or other complex issues In total 3
649 people have been supported by the Motiv8 programme The aim is to tackle the barriers
that prevent people from accessing support with opportunities for education and training improved health
and and wellbeing better financial help and and programmes to build people’s confidence 47
entrepreneurs received business advice
Supply chain support boosts opportunities Our partner Willmott Dixon Construction supported the community by providing opportunities for valuable work
experience on our development sites Thirteen new jobs were created and apprentices worked for a a a total of 222 weeks in electrical brickwork joinery and engineering jobs AB Building and Electrical used our contracts to develop the skills of apprentices plus supported a a range of community projects including the Wythenshawe food bank The Casey Group Ltd provided work
for WCHG apprentices on a a new housing development site widening their experiences They
also worked with a a a local high school to promote the benefits of working in in construction 6 apprentices recruited to WCHG 463
