Victoria takes top prize at Women in Housing Awards!

Congratulations to  Victoria McDowell from  Wythenshawe  Community Housing Group (WCHG) for coming away with the Young Achiever Award in  the inaugural Women in Housing Awards on 6th November.

These awards have  been created to recognise the achievements of women working in the Housing  Sector and the specific role they play.   The Young Achiever award is aimed at those under 30 who demonstrate an  understanding of the wider needs of the community. Victoria is the Employment  and Skills Development Manager for WCHG and is passionate about helping people  improve their prospects by finding jobs through contacts and networks in the  housing sector.  She has already helped  to change the lives of over 100 local people in Wythenshawe.

Robbie Mannion,  Assistant Director of Property at Wythenshawe Community Housing Group said; “To describe Victoria as a shining example  to other women is to undersell her impact.   She is a shining example to everyone and a great role model for staff  too.”

Also short-listed  for an Award at this prestigious national event was Rana Holland,  Communications Manager for WCHG, who was nominated in the Best Marketer &  Communications category.

Nigel Wilson, Group  Chief Executive of WCHG, said; “Both of our contenders fought off tough  national opposition to achieve this level of success and we are very proud of  them and the work they do for our community.”

The event was held  at The Hilton Hotel in Manchester and was hosted by Commonwealth Gold Medallist  Diane Modahl and presented by Karren Brady, the ‘First Women of Football’.
