A thank you to Nick Horne as Simon Morris appointed Interim Chief Executive

Wythenshawe Community Housing Group has announced that Group Chief Executive Nick Horne will retire at the end of April 2026 after leading the organisation for over six years. 

Nick has played a significant role in shaping and supporting the organisation’s mission to provide high-quality homes and services for residents across Wythenshawe. During his time as Chief Executive, he has worked closely with colleagues and partners to strengthen the organisation and ensure it continues delivering for local communities.  

He has also played a leading role in improving digital inclusion across Greater Manchester, working with the Greater Manchester Combined Authority and other partners, and for the last two years he has Chaired the Manchester Housing Providers Partnership.  

The Board has appointed Executive Director of Finance, Simon Morris, as Interim Chief Executive, effective from May. 

Simon has been a member of the Executive Team and brings extensive experience within the organisation. In his interim role, he will provide strong leadership and continue to work closely with colleagues to deliver key priorities. 

Arrangements for the permanent Chief Executive role will be reviewed by the Board later in the summer whilst arrangements to cover Simon’s current Executive Director of Finance responsibilities will be agreed in the next two weeks

“As we look ahead, the Board is pleased that Simon Morris will step into the role of Interim Chief Executive. Simon brings significant experience and a strong understanding of the organisation, and we are confident he will provide stable leadership in the months ahead.” 

Nick Horne, Chief Executive, said: 

“It has been a privilege to serve as Chief Executive, and I am incredibly proud of what we have achieved together. I’m grateful to colleagues across the organisation for their dedication and commitment to our customers and communities. 

“I’m pleased to leave WCHG in a position of robust financial resilience, strong operational performance and a great customer-centric culture. I’m also pleased to be handing over to Simon, who knows the organisation well, and I’m confident the team will continue to go from strength to strength under his leadership.” 

Simon Morris, Executive Director of Finance, said: 

“I’m honoured to take on the role of Interim Chief Executive and to continue the great work that Nick has led during his time as Chief Executive. I look forward to working with colleagues across the business to build on that strong foundation and continuing to deliver for our customers and communities.”
