Getting involved can open doors, and Linda’s story shows just how powerful that can be.
Linda, one of our residents, has been working with us as a Service Inspector and as part of the Website Task & Finish Group for over two years. Through this, she’s helped improve services and share her ideas on what works best for customers.
At the same time, she’s been building valuable skills. Through her volunteering, Linda has grown in confidence, gained experience, and developed skills that helped her when applying for jobs.
Now, she’s taken an exciting next step!
Linda has secured a part-time role at Crossacres Primary School – her dream job. She was clear from the start that she wanted part-time hours so she could continue volunteering with us, which says everything about her commitment to both her own growth and our community.
Linda shared: “I love my job. I just want to get back to my volunteering because I love that too and miss everyone. I can’t thank the [Resident Involvement] team enough for helping me when I was trying to hold it all together. You’ve helped me more than you know, so thank you.”
Her story shows how getting involved can help you build skills, grow in confidence and move towards work or new opportunities.
