New funding to put disabled residents at the heart of change

We’re thrilled to share that we’ve received £95,900 from the Ministry of Housing through the Social Housing Innovation Fund (SHIF) – one of 20 organisations chosen from 183!

The funding will help us launch our project, Wythenshawe Enabled. It’s all about doing things differently and making sure disabled residents are heard, supported and involved in shaping the services that affect their lives.

Starting in April 2026, we’ll work alongside you to build a new approach based on peer support, shared experiences and real conversations. This isn’t something designed behind the scenes, it’s something we’ll create together, with disabled residents helping to shape how it works from day one.

Through welcoming meetups, learning sessions and peer mentoring, we’ll help people feel more confident, less isolated and more connected to their community. Just as importantly, we’ll make sure your experiences and ideas help shape how we improve our services going forward.

What makes Wythenshawe Enabled special is its focus on lasting change. We’re not just running a short-term project, we’re building support networks and opportunities that continue long after the funding ends, helping people stay involved and influence decisions at every level.

This funding gives us the chance to test new ideas, learn quickly and share what works across the housing sector. We’ll be sharing more as the project gets underway, including how you can get involved.

If you’re interested, keep an eye out – we’d love for you to be part of it!
