Earlier this month, two of our colleagues, Franz, Procurement Apprentice, and Liam, Procurement Officer, took part in GM Legacy 2026 – a two-day leadership programme for young professionals across Greater Manchester.
Held at Central Hall Manchester and The Whitworth, the programme focused on building confidence, growing leadership skills and understanding the real challenges and opportunities facing our city. Franz and Liam met regional leaders, networked with other young professionals and explored how young voices can help shape Greater Manchester’s future.
The message was clear – young professionals aren’t just the future, they’re powerful leaders right now.
At Wythenshawe Community Housing Group, we support aspiration – for our colleagues, our customers and our community. Supporting our colleagues into programmes like GM Legacy helps us strengthen our skills, build new networks and stay connected to the wider priorities across Greater Manchester.
Franz commented on his experience, saying: “To have been able to meet with such sharp minds so passionate about enacting changes for Greater Manchester was a refreshing and eye-opening experience. I’m thankful for the support from the speakers and people from GM Legacy; they have given me the confidence in my role to lead with initiative and put my best foot forward.”
Liam added: “It was really inspiring to hear from leaders such as Bev Craig from Manchester City Council, alongside a range of senior representatives from Voluntary, Community, and Social Enterprise, and Small and Medium-sized Enterprise backgrounds. It was particularly interesting to gain insight into how they prioritise key issues, balance competing demands, and make difficult strategic decisions with confidence and clarity.”
By taking part, Franz and Liam are bringing fresh ideas and insight back into their roles, helping us continue to improve our services and play our part in creating safer, healthier communities.
We’re proud to see our colleagues stepping forward and developing the confidence and leadership skills that will benefit both our organisation and the communities we serve.
