Colleagues at Wythenshawe Community Housing Group (WCHG) were celebrating with Joe Mather, a labourer from the roofing team, as he scooped the top £18k prize in this year’s Manchester Evening News’ dream wedding competition.
Joe and his fiancée, Jessica, won this by getting all their friends, family and colleagues to collect Manchester Evening News tokens in their efforts to beat off over 100 couples who were also competing for their dream wedding.
Joe, who lives in Northern Moor, said; “It was a fantastic surprise to win this. It means that we can bring forward our wedding plans and I just want to thank all the staff from WCHG who helped us achieve this. There was a huge cheer from them all when I rang them to tell them that we had won!”
Nigel Wilson, Group Chief Executive of Wythenshawe Community Housing Group, went along to present a bottle of champagne and kick off the celebrations in advance of the wedding later this summer.
