Christmas cheer in Wythenshawe

Our Christmas Meal in a Bag project provided 166 meal and treat bags to households across Wythenshawe, thanks to the generosity of local businesses, organisations and colleague volunteers.

Now in its third year, our Christmas Meal in a Bag initiative, saw 166 households receive all the ingredients needed for a Christmas dinner. Every meal bag contained a chicken, vegetables, stuffing, gravy mix and mince pies. We also offered Christmas treat bags that included cheese, biscuits, mince pies and chocolate.

Colleague volunteers spent two days packing the bags before delivering them to local residents. We also delivered donated toys from the Mission Christmas to every home with children.

Sean Duffy, our Living Well (Food) Manager, coordinated the project. Sean said, “We had a wonderful response from our suppliers to our appeal for support with the campaign. Also, Wythenshawe Tesco generously donated most of the vegetables and discounted all the trimmings.

We’re so grateful to everyone who was involved in the project and helped bring a little festive cheer to local residents.”
