About your Data

As you become involved with Wythenshawe Community Housing Group (WCHG), Community Investment and Real Neighbours Wythenshawe, you will be asked to provide some personal information for our volunteering and registration systems.

It is in our legitimate interests to ask you to provide the personal data/information requested below. We need to collect and process the information in order to keep an up to date record of our volunteers, how to contact them and a record of the next of kin and emergency contact.

  • Name, address and postcode (this is needed so we know who you are and can keep an up to date record of all our volunteers)
  • Contact details (this could be your telephone and/or email), this is needed so we can contact you about the volunteering opportunities and keep you up to date.

Special Category Personal Data

 As well as personal information (such as your name, address, date of birth and emergency contact details) we may collect special categories of data or sensitive personal information:

  • Racial or Ethnic origin
  • Health information

If we do collect this data, we will use it to ensure that our services are delivered appropriately and to ensure your safety when taking part in volunteering opportunities. We may also collect this data to monitor Equality, Diversity and Inclusion and the data collected is to allow us to provide anonymous equality and diversity statistics to potential funders and bidders.

When collecting special category personal data, we will ask for your specific informed consent at the time of collecting this data. Where you have provided consent for us to process sensitive personal information, you have the right to withdraw your consent at any time.

Storing your information

WCHG will hold your information on a secure database with access controls. When using your data for the purposes of monitoring and evaluation for funders and our social impact reports, this information will be kept anonymous. Your data will be kept for a period of up to 6 years after you stop volunteering for WCHG for audit purposes only - if you want us to delete your data before then, please let us know. You can also ask us to stop using your data for marketing purposes at any time.

Sharing your information

WCHG will not share any personal data with any other third parties except if there are safeguarding issues, and we will usually try to get your permission. We may in certain circumstances share some of your information internally within WCHG. This would only happen in accordance with data protection law.
