Santa Claus Campaign hit record numbers for the Wythenshawe Community

5.7 Tonnes of food and toys were donated to Wythenshawe Foodbank this Christmas, thanks to donations from the local community and Wythenshawe Community Housing Group’s (WCHG) Santa Clause Campaign.

In December, WCHG approached a number of their contractors and asked for their support by donating food and toys to Wythenshawe Foodbank as part of their annual campaign to support local people in the community who struggle at Christmas. As a result of their generous donations the Foodbank was able to feed 324 people with a further 496 people receiving Christmas food, toys and treat bags.

Contractors included; Countrywide Environmental Services, Vale Decorators, DLP, Scope It, Dasco Construction, Technology Solutions, Image group, Drainage Consultants, Astwood Design and AB Building & Electrical.

Unit-e is the food storage warehouse based in Wythenshawe Town Centre that collects donations ready to be distributed out to Foodbanks in the area on a weekly basis.

WCHG Group Chief Executive Nick Horne said, “Thank you to all the contractors who kindly took part in our Santa Clause campaign. The donations received were able to help many families in Wythenshawe at Christmas. Unfortunately Food Poverty is still a major issue here in Wythenshawe and WCHG will continue to do whatever we can to tackle this issue and support the work of Wythenshawe Foodbank in 2020 in the community”.
