WCHG launches Strategic Plan towards 2020
Wythenshawe Community Housing Group (WCHG) has just launched its Strategic Plan to set out its vision leading up to 2020.
Since the new Group was established in April 2013, building on the strengths of both Parkway Green and Willow Park Housing Trusts, services have been reviewed and new teams created to provide one service for the people of Wythenshawe. This underpins the ambitions to create efficiencies, provide value for money and to re-invest in services for tenants and the wider community of Wythenshawe.
Eddy Newman, Chair of WCHG said; “No-one can accurately predict the future but our ability to respond flexibly and with a clear sense of purpose will help the Group enhance its mission to create a community where people choose to live and work, having pride in their homes and services.”
The Group manages just under 14,000 homes, mainly rented stock and a small number of shared ownership homes. They also employ over 500 people, with over 40% of the workforce living within the Wythenshawe area.
By 2020 they will be on track to deliver 500 new homes and invest £60m into the area. In 2015 there will be a small number of market rented properties and also homes for outright sale in their new extra-care development, Village 135, giving people a range of options to suit individual needs..
Nigel Wilson, Group Chief Executive of WCHG said; “We need to respond to challenges and external factors in the housing sector. Demand remains strong for social housing in our area and we have a high level of satisfaction from tenants, but we will not rest on our laurels.
“The Group’s strategic plan towards 2020 sets out ambitious targets to take our work forward through a programme of growth, high level of customer satisfaction with services, partnerships with other agencies, robust budgeting and viable financial controls, community investment and regeneration and helping people achieve self-reliance as well as providing support for the more vulnerable in our society.”
