WCHG’s Brenda Grixti MBE wins Women in Housing Award!

Wythenshawe Community Housing Group is delighted to announce that Brenda Grixti MBE has won an award at this year’s national Women in Housing Awards. This was in the category of ‘Most Effective Project in Improving the Lives of Women or Communities.’

These prestigious awards celebrate and recognize the achievement of women who push personal and organisational boundaries to achieve and implement success in the Housing Sector across the UK.

Brenda Grixti MBE is the Manager of Benchill Community Centre and has worked and volunteered in the area for over 35 years, championing the wellbeing of families in Wythenshawe. She received an MBE for her voluntary work back in 2009.

Nigel Wilson, Group Chief Executive of Wythenshawe Community Housing Group said; “We are very proud of Brenda and the fantastic work she does at Benchill Community Centre and for the community of Wythenshawe. She has supported hundreds of families during her career and is a great advocate and example of how volunteering and community work can help bring people together. Everyone who meets Brenda feels inspired to do more. This award couldn’t go to a more deserving recipient and WCHG are very proud of her achievements.”

The winners of Women in Housing were announced at an Awards ceremony at The Hilton Hotel in Manchester on 22nd October 2015
