Wythenshawe In Bloom

Over the last couple of months  a ‘Wythenshawe in Bloom’ group have held  sessions to plant daffodils and crocuses on grassed, high visibility areas, across the whole of Wythenshawe.

From Wythenshawe Community Housing Group’s Involvement Team, Street Cleaning Teams, Neighbourhood Officers, Wardens and Junior Wardens to WCHG tenants, residents and young people, the ‘Wythenshawe in Bloom’ scheme members have planted 22,000 bulbs across our estates.

The scheme has been about much more than just flowers; it has seen the whole community work together to improve their local pride and make their neighbourhood a better place to live.

One tenant said “Everyone’s hard work and willingness to make a difference will help the area look brighter and demonstrates a real sense of pride for the local environment.  We want to thank everyone involved for their efforts.”

Keep an eye out when spring comes and the bulbs come to full bloom with the beautiful displays of colour across the garden city of Wythenshawe.

This project received funding from Manchester Airport Community Trust Fund, Trafford Hall, Wythenshawe Community Housing Group and Manchester City Council who donated over 8,000 bulbs.
