Older people

We want our older residents to live independently, feel connected, and enjoy later life. Whether you’re looking for something social to help you stay well and active, advice on housing options or simply need some support – we’re here for you.

Get involved, feel connected, stay well

Staying active and connected to others is one of the best things you can do for your wellbeing. Shaped by older people and delivered with local partners, there’s loads going on for older people in Wythenshawe:

And if you just fancy a cuppa and a bit of company – that’s on offer too.

You’re never too old to try something new or meet new people – and we promise a friendly face and a warm welcome for everyone.

Help to stay independent

We all need a bit of extra support now and then. Whether it’s something practical at home or help to stay in touch, we’re here to make things easier.

  • Support with sight, hearing, or memory

Living with hearing loss, visual impairment, or memory changes? Small changes can make a big difference. We can offer:

    • Letters and leaflets in large print
    • An easy-to-use My Account where you can manage rent and repairs – with adjustable text and contrast settings
    • Step-by-step guides to using our website and app
    • In-person help at our receptions – our teams are trained and happy to help
    • Hearing loops in reception areas and meeting rooms
    • The option to update your health needs with us, so you get the right support when it’s needed
  • Looking after someone?

If you care for a friend, neighbour, or family member, we know how important your role is. Let us support you too.

    We can help you:

    • Access the right support for the person you care for
    • Make sure their home is safe, comfortable, and accessible
    • Update our records to reflect their needs, so they get priority where needed
    • Connect you with local carer groups, respite options, and expert advice

Just let us know you’re a carer when you get in touch, so we can make sure you and your loved one get the support you both deserve.

  • Making your home work for you

If your home isn’t quite working for you anymore, we can help with adaptations like:

    • Grab rails, ramps, level-access showers, stairlifts
    • Advice on how to apply, what it involves, and what to expect

Whether it’s a small fix or something bigger, we’ll guide you every step of the way.
