Creativity takes centre stage at Community Connector

Wythenshawe’s creative community came together last week for a successful Community Connector event, hosted by our Community Development team, with Manchester Creativity in Place.

The free event welcomed local residents, artists and community organisations to Wythenshawe Forum’s Creative Space to celebrate creativity in Wythenshawe, hear about exciting cultural projects and discover new ways to get involved.

Guests heard from Joe Webster from Manchester Creativity in Place, who introduced the project and shared Wythenshawe Rising – A Digital Tapestry of Creative Voices. Ottilia Ördög from Beat Bazaar also gave an update on the work taking place with local people to help shape the name and identity of Wythenshawe Civic’s new Culture Hub, while James from Creative Space spoke about how the venue is helping more people take part in creative activities and strengthening Wythenshawe’s cultural offer.

The event also featured live music and spoken word performances from local creatives, showcasing the talent and passion that exists across our community. Thank you to Pippa, Marques and Marie for their wonderful performances!

Flo, our Lead Community Development Coordinator, shared: “It was fantastic to see so many people come together to celebrate creativity in Wythenshawe and to see so many new connections being made. The local performers were brilliant, and our speakers gave people a real insight into the creative opportunities available in the The Creative Space and the exciting initiatives coming soon to Wythenshawe through Manchester Creativity in Place.”
