New homes ready for customers on Woodhouse Lane

We’re pleased to announce the completion of our latest housing development on Woodhouse Lane, bringing 14 new apartments to Wythenshawe and creating more high-quality homes for local people.

Built on the site of the former British Legion, the new development includes a mix of one and two-bedroom apartments, with several homes designed to be wheelchair-friendly. The scheme also features a lift and secure gated access, creating a safe, welcoming and accessible place to live.

The development has been delivered in partnership with Rowlinson and forms part of our ongoing commitment to providing good quality homes and supporting thriving communities across Wythenshawe.

All 14 apartments have achieved an Energy Performance Certificate (EPC) rating of A, reflecting the development’s focus on energy efficiency. The homes include solar photovoltaic (PV) panels, air source heat pumps and modern ventilation systems, helping to reduce energy use, keep running costs down and create comfortable homes for customers.

To honour the site’s heritage, a commemorative plaque has been installed outside the front door, recognising the contribution the British Legion made to local people over many years. There’s also a silhouette of a soldier on the corridor wall to remind everyone of the site’s history.

The new apartments will provide modern, comfortable homes for customers who have chosen to rightsize. By moving to a home that better suits their needs, they’re also helping to free up larger family homes for other local families.

Andrea Lowman, our Executive Director of Development, said: “We are delighted to work in partnership with Homes England, Greater Manchester Combined Authority, Manchester City Council, Rowlinsons and the design team to deliver our first bespoke ‘rightsizing’ scheme for Wythenshawe. The homes will be a new beginning for customers who are struggling to look after a larger home, creating a safe, manageable, energy efficient place to live.”

David Chilton, Chief Executive Officer at Rowlinson, said, “These homes have sustainability and affordability at their heart. The energy-efficient features will help to reduce energy consumption and, importantly, keep running costs down, helping to deliver long-term value for residents.”

The completion of the development marks another important step in our work to provide homes that meet the changing needs of our customers and support people to live independently for longer. We look forward to welcoming our new tenants in the coming weeks!
