Hands-on training keeps homes safe
Last week, our surveyors spent a morning doing hands-on training in an empty home to help them build confidence and share skills.
Led by our Senior Property Surveyors, Joe and Steven, the session brought the whole surveying team together to practise how to inspect homes safely, consistently and to a high standard. Using an empty home meant we could learn by doing, without any disruption to customers.
During the morning, our surveyors practised how to diagnose damp and carried out invasive investigations to find the root cause of issues. These practical exercises help us spot problems earlier and make sure our homes remain safe, healthy and well-maintained.
The training comes at a crucial time. Since Awaab’s Law came into effect, surveyors are often the first people to visit when potential health or safety concerns are raised. That means our team is on the frontline of keeping customers safe and acting quickly when urgent risks are spotted.
Joe said: “Sessions like this strengthen the whole team. By learning together, we’re building confidence, consistency and the ability to respond quickly when something doesn’t look right.”
Doing this makes sure we’re preparing for increasing demand and continuing to deliver a high-quality service. It’s a great example of us working as one team, supporting each other and always looking for ways to improve how we care for our homes.
