Paying service charges

Service charges cover the cost of things like cleaning, grounds maintenance, lighting, and other services for the shared spaces in your building. You’ll see your service charges listed on your annual rent increase notification or My Account, so it’s always clear what you’re paying for.

If you have a question, call us on 0300 111 0000 and ask to speak to the Rent and Service Charge team.

Struggling with rent?

Our Income Officers are your first point of contact if you have fallen behind with your rent payments. They’re here to support you.

They can help you:

  • Choose the best way to pay your rent
  • Set up an affordable payment plan if you’re behind
  • Check your benefits and connect you to our Financial Inclusion team for additional support
  • Signpost you to external advice and support services

If you’ve missed a payment (called rent arrears), don’t ignore it. The sooner we talk, the more we can do to help.

Why it matters

Falling behind can lead to:

  • Legal action and court costs
  • A County Court Judgment (CCJ)
  • Being excluded from rehousing under our current Allocations policy
  • Losing eligibility for schemes like Right to Buy
  • In the worst case, losing your home

We’ll do everything we can to help stop things getting worse, but we need you to take the first step: talk to us.

Call 0300 111 0000 and ask for an Income Officer. Together, we’ll make a plan that works for you.
