Citizens Advice Bureau – Free, independent and confidential advice is available from the Citizens Advice Bureau on problems with debt, housing, immigration, discrimination, legal, consumer and many other issues.

Equality and Human Rights Commission – Aims to promote equality and human rights to create a fairer Britain by providing advice and guidance, raising awareness of peoples’ rights and to implement an effective legislative framework.

Lesbian & Gay Foundation – Offers advice and support and is committed to improving services across the board to lesbian, gay and bisexual people.

Manchester Council for Community Relations –  Works toward eliminating racial discrimination, promoting racial equality, equal opportunities and diverisity in the City of Manchester and its surrounding areas.

Mind – Provides information and advice and campaigns to promote good mental health for everyone.  Mind is working to create a society where people with experience of mental distress are treated fairly, positively and with respect.

Refugee Action – National charity offering support and advice to asylum seekers in 11 regions across England.  They work with refugees to help them build lives in the UK.

Refugee Council – Largest organisation in the UK working with asylum seekers and refugees.

Royal National Institute for the Blind – UK’s leading charity offering advice and support to over 2 million blind and partially sighted people. RNIB’s helpline number is 0303 123 9999.

Samaritans – Offers free, non-judgmental advice for people experiencing feelings of distress or despair, including those which could lead to suicide.  You can call even if you just need someone to talk to.  Their 24 hour helpline number is 0845 790 9090.

Shelter – Charity which helps and supports the homeless and people living in poor quality housing.

Stonewall – The lesbian, gay and bisexual charity. Their support line number is: 0800 050 2020.

Stop Hate UK – National charity that provides independent and confidential support to people affected by Hate Crime. Their 24 hour helpline number is: 0800 138 1625.

Victim Support – National charity that provides support for victims and witnesses of crime in England and Wales.

Women’s Aid – Works to put an end to domestic violence against women and children.  The freephone number for the 24 hour operated helpline is 0808 2000 247.
