Powering up futures with AB Building & Electrical Ltd
AB Building & Electrical Ltd are making a real difference – and not just through their brilliant electrical work.
They’ve been working with us since 2011, when they first opened their offices right here in Wythenshawe – and their commitment to the local area has only grown since.
For the past few years, they’ve stepped in to support apprentices who applied to work with us but couldn’t be placed because of limited space, taking on two young people each year since 2022. It’s part of their commitment to growing local talent – and giving people a chance to kickstart a career.
Even better, they also open their doors to our own apprentices, offering work experience placements that help them build skills, confidence and portfolio evidence they might not be able to get in-house.
And it’s working.
Meet Courtney!
Earlier this year, Courtney came along to our Women in Trades Coffee Morning – an event run by our Real Opportunities team to promote apprenticeships in traditionally male-
dominated industries.
She shared her dream of becoming an electrician, and our team jumped into action. They helped her update her CV, coached her through interview prep and referred her to Smart Works for even more support – including a brand-new interview outfit.
And guess what? Courtney smashed her interview with AB Building & Electrical Ltd and got the job!
This is partnership working at its best – Real Opportunities, Smart Works and AB Building & Electrical Ltd all playing their part to help Courtney reach her goals.
AB Building & Electrical Ltd support hasn’t gone unnoticed either. They’ve been named one of the Top 50 SME Apprenticeship Employers, and it’s clear why.
And in recognition of their brilliant work, they were invited to a special celebration event at the House of Lords last week. It was a chance to mark their commitment to apprenticeships and network with other leading employers.
