WCHG Construction Apprenticeships 2019

Our 2019 Construction Apprenticeship recruitment is now open.

WCHG deliver an award winning apprenticeship programme and in 2016 received the ‘Apprenticeship Employer of the Year’ award from the Skills Company and every year get over 100 applications for these positions.

With both employer and college support, candidates will gain a full NVQ Level 2 or 3 in their chosen trade as well as invaluable on the job training.  Since the group launched in 2013 WCHG have delivered 44 apprenticeships with a large number being retained in the business.

WCHG manages almost 14,000 properties, providing homes to more than 20,000 people across Wythenshawe. As an Investors in People Platinum Employer, we invest in our apprentices by starting them on the Living Wage working 35 hours per week.

Apprentice positions will be available in;

  • Plumber- 3 years
  • Surveyor (5 GSCES 9-4 minimum) - 3 years
  • Electrician- 4 years (x2)
  • Roofer- 3 years (x2)

Applicants must live in the M22 or M23 area, there a no age restrictions for these roles.

The closing date for applications will be midnight on the 9th July 2019.

WCHG Interim Group Chief Executive, Kevin Lowry said, “Apprenticeships for local people are a key objective for WCHG, we have seen some real success stories falling out of this programme. We will continue to develop and nurture apprentices here in Wythenshawe to ensure local people have the opportunity to build a brighter future on solid foundations for them and their families”.

Chair of the Board the Bishop of Manchester, The Right Revd, Dr David Walker said," Apprenticeships are part of WCHG’s commitment to the future of Wythenshawe. Its hugely important we continue to do what we can to equip young people with the right skills and qualifications to gain permanent jobs at the end of their employment contracts."

Sophie John began a Gas Apprenticeship at WCHG in 2018 she said, “I took up an apprenticeship because I thought learning on the job would work better for me than being in a classroom. It’s opened my eyes to the real working world and it’s a great experience. If you’re thinking about an apprenticeship I would say definitely go for it!”.
